Reliable payroll processing, tax filings, and full federal, state, and local compliance — handled by CPAs.

This is some text inside of a div block.

Payroll errors don't just frustrate your employees — they trigger IRS penalties. At Taxperts, we handle every aspect of payroll processing so your team gets paid accurately and on time, and your business stays compliant.

Our payroll services are managed by licensed CPAs who understand the tax implications of every payroll decision — from worker classification to benefits administration to multi-state withholding.

Our payroll services include payroll processing (weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly), direct deposit setup and management, federal, state, and local payroll tax filings, W-2 and 1099 preparation and distribution, new hire reporting, worker classification guidance (W-2 vs 1099), and year-end payroll reconciliation.

We also coordinate payroll with your bookkeeping and tax preparation to ensure everything aligns come filing time.

Payroll

questions.

Answers from our licensed CPAs & EAs.

How often do payroll taxes need to be deposited?

Deposit frequency depends on your payroll tax liability. Monthly depositors (liability under $50K/year) deposit by the 15th of the following month. Semi-weekly depositors (liability over $50K) deposit within 1–3 business days of payroll. New employers deposit monthly for the first year. We set up your deposits and ensure they're made on the correct schedule.

What is reasonable compensation for an S-corp owner?

The IRS requires S-corp owner-employees to pay themselves a "reasonable" salary before taking S-corp distributions. Reasonable compensation is generally what the market would pay for the services you're performing. Underpaying yourself to avoid payroll tax is a common audit trigger. We research reasonable comp benchmarks for your role and set a defensible salary.

What payroll software do you use?

We primarily use Gusto, QuickBooks Payroll, and our own cloud-based payroll platform. We integrate with whatever accounting software you're already using. If you don't have a preference, we'll recommend the best fit for your business size and structure.

Can you help if I have payroll tax penalties already?

Yes. Payroll tax penalties can be abated through first-time abatement or reasonable cause relief. If you have accumulated trust fund taxes (941 liabilities), our Tax Resolution team can negotiate with the IRS and set up a payment plan. We address payroll compliance going forward and resolve the past simultaneously.

Do you handle payroll for multi-state employers?

Yes. Multi-state payroll involves registering in each state, withholding the correct state income taxes, and remitting state unemployment (SUTA) in each jurisdiction. We manage all state payroll tax accounts across our 14 markets and beyond.
